Brad PittBrad Pitt and Global Green teamed up to create an affordable green building competition. The design will be implemented in the Lower Ninth Ward in New Orleans that was so deeply affected by Hurricane Katrina. The hype around the contest has been well publicized. Finally, yesterday, they announced the winner. Congrats to Andrew Kotchen and Matthew Berman of New York City!

Winning DesignInterviewed this morning on Today, Pitt tells Ann Curry: “You can cut your energy bill down 65 percent just by the way you position your house, the way you structure it for air flow and insulation and shielding from the sun, and again, the material that you use.” It’s true, people! It’s going to take Brad Pitt talking to the world about green building for people to believe it.

Lower income families need affordable and energy efficient housing. There is no question about that. Added benefits mean that the homes will produce less pollution and be healthier for all.
