In Her ShoesLast night I watched In Her Shoes with Toni Collette, Cameron Diaz, and Shirley MacLaine. I was pleased to see a hybrid have some decent play in the movie. We’ve talked about what an important influence Hollywood has on trends. I can only believe that fuel efficient cars in movies help public opinion.

What other films or TV shows can you think of that have highlighted hybrids, public transit, or fuel-efficiency? More bike references are also welcome!

I’ll start off the list. In addition to In Her Shoes, a hybrid showed up in Be Cool with John Travolta and Uma Thurman. Travolta’s character, Chili Palmer says, “It’s the Cadillac of hybrids.” and later, “If you’re important, people will wait.”

The only other reference I can think of is Rory Gilmore’s Prius on Gilmore Girls.

Anyone else have good examples or references?

Campaigns against fur, whether that’s at the PETA level or a small mobbing like this, don’t work because they promote the use of other animal products.

The two sides claim to both have the “health and well-being of animals” in mind in this partnership, but one likely said “after profitability” under their breath.
