Whoopi Goldberg & Chris NothSummer over at Eco-Chick tells us that she went to the RAN Benefit this weekend, with some big names in attendance such as Mr. Big himself, Chris Noth, Whoopi Goldberg, John C. Reilly, and Noel Ashman. Yes, this is the same Summer that has been dubbed the eco-model! Norah Jones also made a surprise appearance.

From the RAN blog on the event:

Whoopi Goldberg congratulated everyone on tearing themselves away from Fashion Week – and noted the crowds indubitable fashion…and talked about the environmental problems facing us as she sees them…which was spot on from my point of view. She sees RAN as eminently worth support and said she was very happy to be there in support of our work. (Earlier when asked if she had any vices, Whoopi said, “Books.”) And then Chris took the microphone and told folks about his relationship to RAN, about his long time supporting us and his pleasure at being able to offer this event venue…and encouraged everyone to support RAN with their dollars.

Why Vegetarianism Makes No Sense From A Moral Perspective

I don’t consider my years as a vegetarian as a stepping-stone or prerequisite to veganism

I hope I win the ‘Pig Farmers of Tomorrow’ contest I entered (I’m vegan)

I think I’ll likely have the most interest in pigs of anyone applying, anyway.

Hopefully Jon & Tracey Stewart use their new farm for vegan education

They’ve promised classes on caring for animals and sustainable agriculture, so vegan 101 would be a great place to start.
