Mira Sorvino Addresses CongressGeorge Clooney isn’t the only celeb trying to bring attention to the situation in Darfur. Mira Sorvino addressed Congress on Wednesday to urge sending in UN peacekeepers. She has been crusading to end violence in Africa for two years, and spoke at the rally this weekend.

She urges individuals to contact their representatives and tell them your opinion. Additionally, you can send a message to President George Bush and Secretary General Kofi Annan via SaveDarfur.org.

During her speech to Congress, Sorvino stated, “pregnant women have been slashed in the stomach and killed because they carry ‘the child of the enemy.’ Children themselves are not immune to extremely cruel forms of killing.”
