Sheryl Crow on the Ellen showToday Ellen Degeneres is hosting a special program in honor of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Ellen’s own mother is a breast cancer survivor. Sheryl Crow, also a survivor, will be on the show and will discuss preventive tips with the viewers. Christina Applegate will also make an appearance, as her mother is also a breast cancer survivor. (So is my mom!)

Some audience members will chop off their locks and donate the hair to Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths, which will be used for wigs for women who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment. Diane Lane actually donated to this program live on the Today show on July 13.

It’s interesting to hear about this program, as I only knew about Locks of Love – a similar program that “provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss.” Both great programs that do a great thing.

Hi- Love your blog… I am so glad when stars come out in support of issues that are important for all of us. We do alot of work on breast cancer awareness too. I started a company that makes all natural love products because the majority are made with petrochemicals and parabens- which is linked to breast cancer. So many green women have no idea… Anyway I would be honored to link to your blog and have you take a look at mine I am kind of new at this so I would love to hear any tips you could share with me. Happy too, to send some free samples. Thanks for such great work. Wendy
