George Clooney, Don Cheadle, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger George Clooney and Don Cheadle accompanied Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger a he signed a bill last week prohibiting California’s two largest pension systems from owning stock in certain companies that do business in Sudan.

The SF Gate article tells us that the law is very narrowly written, but makes a point.

“We took a more modest approach,” says the bill’s primary sponsor, Democratic Assemblyman Paul Koretz of West Hollywood. “I think it’s less likely to result in any significant legal problems or financial losses for the pension systems. But I think at the same time it has equally important symbolic impact.”

The state of Illinios created a similar but much more strict law in January.
