snipshot_p1kw4laws.jpgAward-winning actor/director Jeff Daniels will be featured nationally through television, radio, print, events, direct mail and non-traditional communication efforts (like hot-air balloons? message in a bottle?) promoting Cobasys, the only hybrid battery maker in North America. The campaign is part of the state of Michigan’s idea to promote up-and-coming businesses. From the article,

“Daniels, a lifelong Detroit Tigers fan, playwright and founder of the Purple Rose Theatre Company in Chelsea, is a natural pitchman for his home state, although skeptics may scoff at having the costar of the movie “Dumb & Dumber” trying to paint Michigan’s struggling economy as a promised land.”

Are critics really basing their opinions of Daniels on his role in ‘Dumb & Dumber’? Do they realize he’s an actor? I’d think any campaign with a recognizable face for a good cause would be something to cheer about — why the dig? To check out his Tiger Fan Blues video, click here.
