Ellen DegeneresEllen Degeneres has joined up with Dawn (dishwashing liquid) for their “Make a Difference” campaign. They’ve got a website where Ellen and you can become virtual wildlife, and join a “flock” (Ellen’s is the “Born to Be Wild” flock). They’ve also got tips on how to reduce oil in the environment, and be greener in general.

With the campaign, they’ve also come out with (of course) a special edition of Dawn. On the label it says, “Saving Wildlife for Over 25 Years.” Actually, it’s true. Dawn is one of the ways that oil from spills is removed from animals without harming them.

Says Ellen, who chose to become a virtual seal, “I just think [seals] are adorable. I’ve always loved animals and I want to do anything I can to help.” I can’t believe she didn’t become a swan!
The tips include avoiding topping off at the gas pump (it can cause gas to spill onto the ground, the residue can run off into our creeks and our ocean) and bringing your own bag to the store (amen!).

Ellen says, just do it! “All these things are so easy,” she said, “that if we all did them, it would make such a huge difference.”

Dawn hopes that they can inspire 1 million people to make a difference.
