Colbert Painting Raises $50,605 For Charity
Filed under: campaigns — michael @ 10:25 pm
If you ever wondered how much The Colbert Show has raised Stephen Colbert’s star in little over a year, wonder no more. With bidding now complete, the painting of Stephen standing in front of a painting of Stephen, has just been sold for over $50K. Making good on his word to help “save the children”, 100% of the proceeds from the auction will go to the Save The Children Charity. We’ll leave you with this very funny quote about the painting from the Ebay post:
“While certainly not the first work to champion metastasis, assymetry, topography, decay, multiplicity, and, crucially, mischief in the quadrolinear plane– and let’s not resign the vanguard to mere chronology, for Clobbmann’s “Auto-Clobb” did exemplify this alchemy quite potently, and more than twelve years ago– the “Colbert” is truly, irrefutably, a masterwork: colorist in its flair, theorist in its proclivity, dadaist in its zeitgeist. If there’s one painting you buy on eBay this year…”
