While Sean Astin has lent his voice to a documentary about sea lions, his other hobbit-pal, Elijah Wood is set to narrate a documentary aimed at saving penguins. Wood, who also provides voice-over work for the new animated film, Happy Feet, is participating in a program called ‘Saving A Species’ for the Discovery Kids Network. From the article,
“The TV documentary follows the efforts of a group of environmentalists who fought the odds to save a population of South African penguins in the aftermath of a huge oil spill.
Wood says, ‘The relief effort that came together was truly, truly extraordinary and they managed to save the entire population of penguins.’”
This is the kind of effort that the Happy Feet website should promote with their marketing. As I ranted about before, this movie’s official site is lacking any real education on penguins. They’re more interested in promoting Tama-Flu than showing kids how they can get involved in ’saving a species’. A great opportunity, wasted.
