Haylie & Hilary Duff (vintage Mizrahi)I caught a segment of Isaac Mizrahi last night and was pleased to see that he was with Haylie Duff shopping for vintage clothes. She said that she and her sister are big fans of vintage clothes. In fact, her younger sister Hilary Duff even wore one of Isaac’s old dresses (shown in picture). The definition of vintage, of course, is now very flexible!

But we don’t care if you want to call an outfit from 5 seasons ago vintage! What we do care about is that wearing used clothes is considered cool. Haylie’s advice: Know a good seamstress. Sometimes the cuts of these older clothes aren’t the most flattering – feel free to make it your own!

Hilary even talked about wearing vintage in The Telegraph back in April:

For awards ceremonies I often wear vintage – at the American Music Awards last year I performed in a little black dress with all these feathers on it, which was really fun.

I was just in Toronto with my mum and we went to the Holt Renfrew department store’s vintage section and found a black floor-length dress covered with gold and pewter sequins.

If you’re mourning Sudan the rhino, go vegan

The world needs more vegans because more than dollars or pledges or sad-emoji riddled posts, our individual efforts can stop the demand for horns, for zoos, for animal flesh, and for the exploitation of any living being.

Criticize veganism, but don’t discredit it

Oppressive and harmful behaviour has no place in a movement rooted in anti-oppression.

Jallikattu was a single issue campaign doomed for failure

Filing a case in the courts is a time-consuming and expensive affair and, sadly, doomed to fail because, by and large, the laws of the land reflect the views of the people.
