snipshot_94e3ghl779r.jpgBy now, you can safely assume that a large percentage of celebrities have a Prius (or other hybrid) tucked in their garage alongside their convertibles and roadsters. It’s all the rage in Hollywood. In fact, owning a car such as the Prius even earns you membership in what the Sunday Times in London is calling the Hollywood ‘Green Brigade’.

Danny Devito
has been outed as the latest celeb to be spotted driving a hybrid. His previous eco-car, the GM Electric EV-1, was long ago ripped from his hands and crushed somewhere (as seen in the movie, Who Killed The Electric Car?). From the article,

“His conversion happened after his wife gave him a General Motors electric car for Father’s Day some years ago. “I used to drive a big gas-guzzling BMW but the EV1 was great,” he says. “It was all just electricity but you could go miles without recharging it.”

When the car was recalled by General Motors at the end of the lease period, DeVito immediately signed up to drive the Toyota Prius. “It’s a wonderful car. The idea is that in town you get a lot more gas miles out of it because of the electric motor. But you can still go really fast — up to 80mph on the highway.”

Rumor has it GM may release another electric car sooner than later. I wonder if Danny will be lining up to purchase? Will we start to see the celebrity Priusi (is that the correct plural?) on eBay if a new super-green car arrives? The world (and Ed Begley Jr.) await with bated breath.
