Sorry for the silence these past couple of days everyone. You know how it is. We hope everyone had a great time on Christmas!

Anyway, time for some news. Bono was granted an honorary knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II. This is in recognition of his work for the music industry, but particularly for his accomplishments in his humanitarian efforts.

“The British Embassy in Dublin takes great pleasure in announcing that Her Majesty The Queen has appointed Bono to be an honorary Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in recognition of his services to the music industry and for his humanitarian work,” according to an embassy news release.

We won’t be hearing him called “Sir Bono” though, because he’s Irish and the title of “Sir” or “Dame” are only given to  British citizens or those from countries of which the Queen is the Head of State.
