One of our favorite tipsters, Christine, let us know that Miss Potter (releasing tomorrow) will likely have some strong eco-themes throughout the film. Children’s book author and illustrator Beatrix Potter is played by Renee Zellweger. I grew up with her books, but only today realized how interesting her life story is.

In her will, Beatrix donated 4000 acres of land, cottages, and 15 farms to the National Trust, preserving the Lake District for generations. She also showed great scientific potential through her botanical drawings, but they were not accepted due to the fact that she was female.

It looks like we’ll get a good peak at the land she helped preserve, as it was a location for filming. Thanks for the tip, Christine!
