Al GoreWe were pretty thrilled to find out that An Inconvenient Truth was nominated in the Best Documentary feature category of the upcoming Oscars. Some parents in Seattle weren’t happy about it at all, though. Frosty Hardiman has shot off a letter to the local school board protesting against the movie, which was scheduled to be screened during his daughter’s science class.

“No, you will not teach or show that propagandist Al Gore video to my child, blaming our nation — the greatest nation ever to exist on this planet — for global warming,” Hardiman wrote in an e-mail to the Federal Way School Board.

The 43-year-old computer consultant is an evangelical Christian who said he believes that a warming planet is “one of the signs” of Jesus Christ’s imminent return for Judgment Day.

I imagine there are more offensive movies out there that deserve a greater degree of outrage, but it’s just funny how much controversy rocks An Inconvenient Truth.

Those fundie Christians. It’s rather sad that a fellow Washingtonian was outrage by that and not by anything else.

People like that make me sick.

The union of science teachers (or something like that) was offered like 1000 free copies of this movie. They rejected it. And guess what, Exxon-mobile is a major contributer…

That bothers me, that teachers, people who are supposed to be educators refuse it!
