While skateboard tricks and stunts always amaze me, I’ve never really been a big fan of skateboarders, who generally just fly under my radar. And then there’s Bob Burnquist. Grist’s Sarah Van Schagen recently sat down with him for an interview which revealed the following details (to anyone who already knows these things about him, feel free to skip this part, or leave a comment if you’d like to add more info!):

· He is a founding member of Action Sports Environmental Coalition.
· He urged X Games officials to use FSC-certified wood for skating ramps.
· He works only with eco-friendly corporate sponsors.
· He has issued the Global Cooling Challenge.
· He and his family ran a vegetarian restaurant in California.

Why Vegetarianism Makes No Sense From A Moral Perspective

I don’t consider my years as a vegetarian as a stepping-stone or prerequisite to veganism

I hope I win the ‘Pig Farmers of Tomorrow’ contest I entered (I’m vegan)

I think I’ll likely have the most interest in pigs of anyone applying, anyway.

Hopefully Jon & Tracey Stewart use their new farm for vegan education

They’ve promised classes on caring for animals and sustainable agriculture, so vegan 101 would be a great place to start.
