red.jpgThere have been several companies joining up with U2’s Bono is an effort to promote the humanitarian campaign, [RED]. You’ve probably seen the red iPod, red Converse sneakers, red GAP shirts, etc. A portion of the profits from each product sold is then given to The Global Fund which helps women and children affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa.

Motorola is contributing with a [RED] Razr phone; but most noticeable is their efforts to make the campaign funny, as well as beneficial. There are a series of videos at the online [RED] Motorola site featuring hilarious clips from Charlie Sheen, Chris Rock, Shaun White, Molly Sims, and a host of other famous folks. I would highly recommend checking them out; especially Sheen’s, which as expected, doesn’t hold back on the honesty factor.

On the flip side, Sprint has a great commericial with Ron Livingston (of ‘Office Space’, ‘Band of Brothers’) that is finally funny. I say “finally” because up until this one, most of the Livingston/Sprint commercials have fallen pretty flat. It features Ron talking about the Motorola Red Razr campaign in front of images depicting helping hands, the [RED] logo, doves, etc. and how the money goes to help fight AIDS awareness. The signs then flip to describe the sexiness of the phone with some funky music and then back to the doves with Livingston quipping, “In case you weren’t taken in by the whole “helping to save the world part.” It works better in video. I apologize for taking away seconds of your life with that description.

Anyways, visit the Motorola site and check out the videos. Unlike Diesel, the humor is an appropriate compliment to the campaign.

Anyone for a little [RED] Chris Kattan dancing?

Veld donates money to farm animals and also serves them

Lest we be confused that their giant V logo stands for anything other than Veld.

Trading beef for beans is not a solution, veganism is

Please do substitute beef for beans, but also have tofu instead of turkey, carrots instead of chicken, and I think you see where I’m going.

Guys, extortion isn’t an effective form of vegan advocacy

Assuming we can extort people into respecting the lives of others makes no sense.
