After getting a visit from Richard Gere and Ralph Fiennes, India is welcoming yet another concerned celeb. This time it’s Scarlett Johansson, who is traveling with Oxfam to the poor areas of Delhi and learning more about local community programs and social issues, particularly violence against women and education and health care. Oxfam’s South Asia Regional Director, Ashvin Dayal, appreciates the support from Scarlett and says,

“We are delighted that Scarlett is supporting Oxfam and our work to help end global poverty,” Dayal said. “High-profile support helps us to raise awareness of these issues and urge governments and leaders worldwide to act,” Dayal said.

How nice of Scarlett to help out. She’s also recently donated a condo to a children’s organization. Given her statements against celebs who use charity work for publicity, we can probably assume she really is serious about humanitarian work.
