Sweet LandYesterday Film Independent held its annual Spirit Awards in Santa Monica to celebrate this year’s independent films. Little Miss Sunshine was a big winner overall taking Best Feature, Best Director, Best First Screenplay, and Best Supporting Male Alan Arkin.

We were especially excited to see, however, that Sweet Land won Best First Feature. This film has been mentioned on Ecorazzi before, as it was a carbon-neutral production. Though I still haven’t seen the film, I’m completely impressed that a quality movie can be good for the environment, without necessarily being about a green topic. Just a good ol’ love story – that’s what is going to take the green movement to the next level.
