Also, I think a big reason Madonna got so much flak was because she adopted a boy whose dad is still alive. I mean, there are millions of kids whose parents are dead - she couldn&#039;t pick one of them? What she did reeked a bit too much of a privileged white person taking a child from his father (even if the father is poor as dirt and uneducated - it&#039;s his father) (and yes, I&#039;m aware the father had placed the kid with the orphanage; still, he&#039;s alive and could possibly have cared for his son at a later date).</description>

If a single parent or unmarried couple can show that they have more than adequate financial resources to support a child, then the single status of the potential parents should not matter. If Angelina doesn&#039;t want to get married, she shouldn&#039;t marry just to be able to adopt a baby from Vietman.  Why not an American baby? I&#039;m not sure what the adoption laws are in each state, but I don&#039;t think most states are as discriminatory.</description>
