Portraying writer Iris Murdoch in the movie Iris really opened Dame Judi Dench‘s eyes to the effects of Alzheimer’s. She’s the latest celebrity to throw in her support for The Alzheimer’s Society, a charity working for the rights of dementia sufferers.

Dame Judi says: ‘Dementia is an appalling condition that affects not just the person diagnosed, but everyone around them. I began to understand the devastating impact Alzheimer’s has while playing the role of Iris Murdoch. No one should have to face dementia alone and the Alzheimer’s Society is here to make sure they don’t.’

The group has just launched The Vice-Presidents, Patrons, and Ambassadors program which is supported by politicians, scientists, and celebrities.

Why Vegetarianism Makes No Sense From A Moral Perspective

I don’t consider my years as a vegetarian as a stepping-stone or prerequisite to veganism

I hope I win the ‘Pig Farmers of Tomorrow’ contest I entered (I’m vegan)

I think I’ll likely have the most interest in pigs of anyone applying, anyway.

Hopefully Jon & Tracey Stewart use their new farm for vegan education

They’ve promised classes on caring for animals and sustainable agriculture, so vegan 101 would be a great place to start.
