The Big Ask has kicked off with the release of Friends of the Earth’s concert footage and a free CD (with The Observer on Sunday 18th March). The CD features high profile artists such as Thom ‘Radiohead’ Yorke and Johnny ‘Razorlight’ Borrell. Yorke launched The Big Ask in May 2005 and has roused massive support from his celebrity mates. Check out the CD, which also has live tracks from Damien Rice, the Guillemots, Roots Manuva, Polar Bear and Nick Cave. Also, look out for the live footage released by Friends of the Earth of the gig at KOKO in London last May. The Big Ask LIVE will be putting on more gigs over the UK with performances from both well known and up and coming artists.
Since embracing his position as Friends Of The Earth Ambassador Thom Yorke has been a busy man, so far over 130,000 people have emailed their MP asking them to support the bill for cutting emissions. He has persuaded loads of stars to get behind this campaign, (mainly from the indie music scene so far) so expect even more celebs to be asking you to get involved pretty soon.
The Big Ask has also just released a hilarious promotional video with one simple message – getting people to ask difficult questions. Bizarrely, they have used a sex scene involving a dominatrix, an MP and a housemaid, you need to see it for yourself to understand, but it really works. Which politician do you think they are referring to? Answers on a (recycled) postcard please…
