snipshot_d4putrxb3m6.jpgLast night, Elle Magazine had what’s quickly becoming its annual Big Green Issue Party at Boulevard3. The publication is celebrating the upcoming release of its 2007 May Issue detailing all the green happening around the world and featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and Knut the polar bear cub on the cover. There were plenty of celebrities on hand to celebrate, but Laurie David and Sheryl Crow were particularly excited. Starting Monday, the two will become bus-mates as they tour college campuses around the country for the Stop Global Warming College Tour. Laurie, however, has some nerves about the living arrangements. From the E! Online’s gossip man, Mark Malkin,

“David admitted she is a bit nervous about living on the bus with Crow, because they’re new friends who don’t know each other too well. ‘There’s no one more fun to be with on a bus than me,’ Crow said. ‘Just ask most of the men I ever met on the road.'” Frisky!

Laurie David was quick to point out to guests attending that they need to go home and get busy replacing light bulbs with CFLs. “Go home and change a lightbulb,” David said. “And then tell three friends to do it.” Each gift bag contained a Phillips CFL bulb.

Good news for green trend spotters — expect this current wave of eco-excitement in the magazine industry to carry on for as least another year. According to reports, Elle‘s editor in chief, Robbie Meyers, promised David that there would be a third green issue for 2008. Excellent news indeed.

Joining David and Crow were Larry David, Gabrielle Reece, Weeds star Kevin Nealon, An Inconvenient Truth director Davis Guggenheim and his wife, Elisabeth Shue, Maggie Grace and singer KT Tunstall. Both Tunstall and Crow performed at the event.

Thanks to Linton for the tip!

Alec Baldwin wants turkey-less Thanksgiving, ignores other animals

No less turkeys would be saved if Baldwin and Farm Sanctuary asked people to go vegan.

If you only want a less-cruel turkey industry, you don’t give a shit about turkeys

There’s more than enough out their promoting the use of animals already- can’t animal rights activists agree to be the ones who say stop it and mean it?

Vandalism and aggression won’t help veganism

These acts of intimidation and aggression don’t change public perspective on veganism for the better, and that’s the only thing that will help animals.
