Laurie David and Sheryl Crow have compared themselves to “Thelma and Louise”. Said David, “I’m wondering who gets Brad Pitt? I forget who gets Brad Pitt in the movie.” Crow responded, “You said you wanted him. I went to college with Pitt, so, I don’t want him.” The two also admitted that the concept for traveling around the U.S. and talking to college students about global warming happened over sushi. Ah, don’t the best things happen over sushi? Let’s hope it’s still around in 2050…

Leonardo DiCaprio’s upcoming eco-documentary, The 11th Hour, will be screened for the first time at the Cannes Film Festival next month. The film includes the participation of more than 70 experts from various fields on the subject of global warming. Experts are still debating, but the ladies are pretty sure that having DiCaprio, Clooney, Pitt, and Damon at the same festival may push temperatures even higher. Ocean’s 13 premieres as well.

Authors can be green too. Salman Rushdie and Jonathan Franzen, are participating in an ecology event, titled GREEN THOUGTHS and presented as part of the PEN World Voices: The NY Festival of Intertnational Literature, on April 24. According to the release, “We’ll hear writers read from the work of other writers on the subject of the natural world. We’ll hear from other countries and other centuries; we’ll hear passionate, lyrical, and compelling voices raised in response to our gorgeous, mysterious, and imperiled earth.” The pen is truly greener than the sword.

Stop calling vegan food “cruelty-free”

Many vegans proudly proclaim that their food is “cruelty-free” as though issues of justice and injustice begin and end with our use of nonhuman animals.

Verbally abusing your vegan friends isn’t edgy, it’s just being a bully

If you’re a vegan who has had to deal with this, and especially if you come from a background of being abused in other ways, you are absolutely not alone
