I have to agree with Preston & Michael on this one. I really like Sheryl, and it's important that we all make small changes in our everyday lives, but this sort of advice isn't helpful -- it's creepy.

I'm going to agree with Michael and take it a step further. To be funny, but serious, one square will not work with the runs. It won't.

The type of green admonitions talked about in this post are irresponsible. The guys on my local sports radio were making fun of environmentalism, etc., because of stuff like using one square of toilet paper. It's not practical and it colors the common perception of being green. It's one thing to say, "hey, toilet paper is made from virgin trees and that's a bad thing...let's find a solution because we all need to continue to be sanitary..." Open the discourse. Discourse will happen with the One Square Theory in green circles, but for people that aren't green, they're just going to get pushed further away from constructive lifestyle changes.

It's clear that "green" might be out of control right now. Watch it as it boomerangs around politics, society, magazines, newspapers, Hollywood, etc. I'm sure this isn't the last time we'll hear something like this.

Or how about using cloth toilet paper? Shouldn't re-use come before recycle? My family has used cloth toilet paper for years now. In fact, we have no single use paper products in our house. And it's bidet, not a baday.

Well, it's one idea, that's for sure. Over at Change It we're encouraging everyone to think about what they can change to effect global warming and protect our environment. Sheryl should stop by, share her idea and maybe check out a few more.

Is it worse to have a Japanese Toto electronic toilet which shoots water up your arse? That takes cleaning and pumping clean water. What did our pre-historic relatives do? Leaves?
