If t-shirts voicing concern over Darfur aren’t making much of a statement, perhaps hourglasses filled with blood might? That was the idea behind “Day For Darfur”, which took place yesterday in more than 35 capitals to mark the start of the deadly conflict four years ago. Throwing their support behind the idea, Matt Damon, Hugh Grant, and Thandie Newton all participated in advertisements for the cause.

In the photos, the celebs are shown holding an hour glass filled with blood — which is then smashed to the ground. Such action is a symbol that time is running out for the people involved in this deadly conflict. For the event yesterday, 10,000 hour glasses filled with fake blood were turned over by activists.
