James Blunt, Noel Gallagher, Ozzy Osbourne, and Rod Stewart are some of the musicians who are pitching in to raise money for The Prince’s Trust, Teenage Cancer Trust, and Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy. Each musician will be paired with an artist to create a design for a 10-foot-tall Les Paul guitar. The finished products which will be put on display around London in June, and the whole lot will be auctioned off in September.
The campaign was launched by Gibson GuitarTown London, and it looks like they’re looking for more visual artists to work with the musicians who have signed on for this project. Pop artist Sir Peter Blake has this to say about his involvement in this charity effort.
“I have been associated in both the arts and music field for most my professional career and Gibson Guitar Town London comprises of the two, which is why I am delighted to be a part of it and help raise money for three great charities.”
Even though they still need artists to execute the designs, it looks like this is a pretty popular cause for British musicians, since 30 of them have already committed to this. We can’t wait to see what designs they’ll come up with!
