snipshot_e4cora236a2.jpgThe UK is preparing to mark the 10th Anniversary of Princess Diana’s death with a memorial celebration at Wimbley Stadium in London this coming July –but don’t expect Madonna to show up.

The legendary singer was asked to reprise her role from the hit musical Evita by Andrew Lloyd Webber, but said no because she was rehearsing for Live Earth the following week. The massive concert event — occurring at seven locations around the world on July 7th — will feature an incredible lineup of artists as they seek to bring awareness to climate change. Madonna will be headlining the London segment, also happening at Wimbley. From the article,

“Live Earth approached Madonna first and she is committed to performing there. It would be extremely hard to rehearse for both gigs at the same time and she wouldn’t want to give less than 100 per cent to either.”

There ya have it. Both events will most likely raise a tremendous amount of money for their various causes. However, I do not envy the position of the Diana organizers having to find someone — anyone — that isn’t performing at Live Earth. Is Elton available?
