habitat.jpgThis past Saturday, Hollywood for Habitat for Humanity — the entertainment industry’s charitable organization which supports Habitat for Humanity — heldd a star-studded event titled, “Power Women, Power Tools” featuring some of Hollywood’s most influential women. From the article,

“Armed with signature pink hard hats and tool belts, more than 100 Power Women and local volunteers helped build two homes in South Los Angeles in partnership with families in need of decent, affordable housing. Sponsored by Home Interiors Charitable Foundation, this inspiring event empowers and celebrates women, while rallying the entertainment community to help raise awareness about the need for affordable housing in the Greater Los Angeles area and around the world.”

Actress Julie Bowen (Boston Legal, Ed), Jeanne Tripplehorn (Big Love), and executives from Los Angeles entertainment firms chipped in to help with the project. In addition to the two new homes built, Habitat also surprised 20 families by announcing they had qualified and been selected to be future homeowners as part of the 2007 Jimmy Carter Work Project (JCWP). Congratulations to all the participated. We applaud the efforts of women in the entertainment industry taking time to give back to such a worthy cause.
