I want
my MTV, but I want it “Green.” In conjunction with the support of Live Earth, MTV Networks launched a new initiative campaign of activities yesterday to raise awareness of global warming across multiple platforms internationally.
With MTV’s brand power and earnest ability to encourage viewers to take pro-social action with it’s Break the Addiction campaign, it’s likely global and environmental awareness will be at the forefront of change—indefinitely. Internationally, MTV is producing a series of eleven 10-minute bulletins per hour on 7 July starting at 1pm BST which includes the live performances from Live Earth itself along with content based around the event.
Stateside, MTV will launch a dedicated Live Earth page, available at http://www.LiveEarth.MTV.com, featuring content from MTV’s award- winning Break the Addiction campaign as a means to mobilize America’s youth population to fight against global warming. The Live Earth page will teach users how to break their addictions to oil and over-consumption on a regular basis via daily video tips, and additional ways to take action globally and locally, and more.
According to President of MTV Networks’ Music Group in the US, Van Toffler, “With our award-winning Break the Addiction campaign here in the US and our global support of Live Earth, MTV is demonstrating its unparalleled commitment to raising awareness of climate change by combining two things that define the core of our audience — activism and music.”
Cheers to MTV for taking a stand once again! VH1, it looks like you have some competition, yet again.
