Just under an hour before Live Earth kicks off in the Meadowlands, in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the organizers met with the press to share a few pre-concert thoughts.

Among the highlights:

*The New Jersey concert will unfold before a “capacity crowd” of 52,000 people, said Bruce Moran, president of Live Nation. (In season–without a stage in the stadium, the Giants can pack in roughly 77,000 fans.) The organizers are hoping that as many as 2 billion viewers will be tuning in to the concerts worldwide.


*Aaron Grosky (above), head of talent and programming for Live Earth called it “The largest assembly of live music in any 24-hour period anywhere in the world.”

*It’s the also most green concert ever. Lily Sobhani (above), Live Earth’s global head of events, shared her view that today’s concerts “sets a high bar for all future events.”
