Matt Damon attended a charity premiere of his latest (and most anticipated) flick, The Bourne Ultimatum yesterday and chatted a bit about the environment and other amusing topics. According to NewsOK, the event raised “about $192,000 for The Children’s Center, a nonprofit Bethany hospital that provides medical care, rehabilitative therapies and special education to children with medical and physical disabilities.”

On the purple carpet (in recognition of the charity) Damon chatted on the environment saying, “You hear actors huff and puff about global warming, but you’ll go on a movie set and see like 8,000 Styrofoam cups laying around.” and offering advice for current Assassins with, “Turn yourself in.” Damon plays an assassin that has lost his memory in the now complete ‘Bourne’ trilogy.

It’s an interesting quote from Damon — who has probably been more on the proactive side of environmental and humanitarian change than the theories surrounding global warming. He has supported Darfur relief efforts, pushed for higher fuel-standards, and backed groups such as ONE X ONE and ONE in efforts to alleviate global poverty. We dig the idea of charity premieres and it’s a wonderful thing to see an action flick raise so much money for such a good cause. Wouldn’t it be great if all premieres benefited someone as much?
