George Clooney steps up yet again in his continuing advocacy for Darfur. He will be narrarating the HBO documentary Sand and Sorrow. According to Variety, he will also be producing the Paul Freeman project which revolves around the crisis in Darfur.
The documentary will uncover how the Arab-controlled government has exterminated a vast portion of the African population and expose the international community’s tendency to turn a blind eye. Freedman stated, “the tragic events taking place in Darfur unfortunately are a continuation of the lack of response from the international community in protecting millions of innocent lives from their own government. Without humanitarian aid and political resolve from the U.S. and other countries, these displaced people from Darfur could suffer the same fate as those innocents from Eastern Europe, from Cambodia and Rwanda.”
Other keynotes taking part in the project include author Elie Wiesel, Senators Barak Obama and Sam Brownback and rebel leader Minni Minawi. It will hit theatres in December.
