It’s been awhile since we’ve updated on the world of animal rights and supporters — so let’s jump right in:
Spice Girl Melanie Brown’s new husband Stephen Belafonte apparently doesn’t think too highly of ducks. The jackass was recently fined $600 after throwing a brick at a mallard outside his home in Point Pleasant and killing the animal. Proving that there is indeed justice for such cruelty, a warrant has been issued for his arrest over unpaid fines regarding the incident of ‘animal control offense’. Keep a brick handy if you see him.
Former star of the UK’s The Office, actress Lucy Davis is the latest celeb to star in PETA’s ‘Bare Skin, not bear skin’ ads. As we’ve written previously here on the Raz, the campaign is meant to draw attention to the use of real bears’ skin on the hats of Queen Elizabeth II’s guards.
Finally, CNBC’s “Money Honey” anchor Maria Bartiromo has come under fire for recently enjoying a new coat with fox-fur cuffs. In her own words, “Chic, sexy clothes are the real me . . . The coat is spectacular; the fur cuffs give it just the right amount of glamour.†PETA spokesman Michael McGraw had the last word adding, “She looks morally bankrupt in that fur.†Couldn’t agree more.
