The Barenaked Ladies and Sarah Harmer will play an intimate outdoor concert to raise funds for the environmental non-profit corporation Protecting Escarpment Rural Land (PERL) on September 29th in Ontario, Canada. All proceeds go to PERL’s efforts to secure the healthy future the Niagara Escarpment (a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve), its water resources and endangered species (including Jefferson salamanders and Butternut trees) from quarry development.

Tickets are $150 and can be ordered directly here. This will probably be a pretty small affair; so chances are you’ll have great viewing and potential interaction with both BNL and Harmer. Great to see these musicians giving up their time to play for such awesome and worthy organizations. To find out more information on PERL, click here to visit their official site.

How does one go about getting an environmentally conscious band/act like BNL to take part in an event. I would like to put together a major environmental event for 2009 and attract someone like Joni Mitchell as a spokesperson.
