It felt lonely to be the only biker in my group for many years. Here in Boston, a notoriously bad city for biking (and where I worked as a bicycle messenger for 2 years out of college), our mayor Menino has discovered biking and has been singing its praises through real, actionable steps such as real bike lanes, new bike racks, and the hiring of a bike czar. We have a long way to go to an Amsterdam-style bikers' paradise, but it's a start. Wow, biking is finally getting hip? It felt lonely to be the only biker in my group for many years.
