As Breast Cancer Awareness Month kicks off this month, a flurry of celebrities, corporations, and foundations will all be doing their part to raise awareness of this widespread disease. Mariska Hargitay is serving as the 2007 ambassador for Lee Denim Day. On October 5, Lee Jeans encourages millions of people worldwide to slip into their favorite pair of jeans and make a $5 donation to support the fight against cancer. In partnership with Women’s Cancer Programs of EIF, funds will go to groundbreaking early detection and treatment research for breast cancer, as well as support grassroots advocacy services for the disease. Since the creation of Denim Day eleven years ago, more than $65 million has been raised for the cause. According to the press release:
“I’m honored to join Lee Jeans and the Entertainment Industry Foundation as an ambassador of this worthwhile campaign,” said Hargitay, who is supporting the program in honor of the many friends and family who are breast cancer survivors. “Lee National Denim Day is an easy way for friends, family, and co-workers to support pioneering breast-cancer research and unite in offering hope to all women who must fight this battle.”

It’s great that people are doing their bit for raising the awareness of Breast Cancer. I lost my Mother to Cancer and I can only empathise those who have lost loved ones to any form of cancer. I’m trying to do my bit also, but raising awareness of Breast Cancer with my website http://www.breastcancerexplained.com – in memory of my Mother Enid M*
God Bless and thanks for posting this information.

Thank you so much for all you are doing. Last January, my then 29 yr. old daughter was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Since then she has faced very harsh hurdles. Her name is Jaime, she has fought a good fight and is still doing so. It is my prayer a cure will soon be found. I have lost one child and not so sure I can loose another. Jaime is a strong young woman. I want her to live without fear, with hope and to have a long and healthy life. With people such as yourself speaking up it can and will make a difference. She is a fan …dedicated..watching you has helped through some pretty lonely and tough times esp. when her resistance was so low after each chemo session. She has yrs to go even now..infusions to help prevent cancer from growing again. I pray for those years..not just for Jaime..but for all women who have fought this battle and may have to fight it. Peace, Dorothy W. Clark
