Oceana, one of our favorite organizations that exists to protect the world’s oceans, held an Awards Ceremony this weekend in California. Oceana is well-known for its alignment with Ted Danson, who has been a long-time ocean activist and is a spokesperson for the organization.

During the annual awards ceremony, Al Gore was presented with the Partners Award, while Dr. Daniel Pauly – a fisheries expert – received the Ted Danson Ocean Hero Award.

Other famous faces showed up to show their support and enjoy the party including Paul Mitchell, Brooke Shields, Jeff Goldblum, Lauren Hutton, and of course Mary Steenburgen.

  1. The award for Dr. Pauly is well deserved. He’s published some great research countering the fishing industry’s claims that marine mammals, such as whales and seals, are harming commercial fisheries and should be hunted.
