Yes, the pink awareness is really shining brightly in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, and Renee Zellweger is jumping on the pink bandwagon. She is serving as 2007 ambassador to the 8th annual KEY TO THE CURE campaign sponsored by Saks Fifth Avenue and the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF).
The charity shopping event will take place October 18 to 21 at all of its stores nationwide, during which a percentage of sales will benefit local organizations through EIF’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund. According to the press release, “in support of this program, Ms. Zellweger will appear in a national public service announcement (PSA) wearing a limited edition t-shirt designed by Juicy Couture, exclusively to benefit Saks Fifth Avenue’s KEY TO THE CURE.”
Mercedes-Benz is also a national sponsor of KEY TO THE CURE, and expects to raise $1 million this year through sales of 1,000 special edition vehicles, bringing the total amount raised by MBUSA for women’s cancer research to over $5 million
The money raised through Saks Fifth Avenue’s 2007 KEY TO THE CURE will benefit more than 50 charitable programs dedicated to finding new detection methods, treatments and, hopefully, a cure for women’s cancers through EIF’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund and has raised more than $23 million since the campaign first started eight years ago.
