bigbox_250695_dyc_prop1.jpgWhile Texas may not be recognized as breeding the best in politicians, it looks like Lance Armstrong is helping to change the image. The Texas native, cancer survivor and Tour De France champion can now add politico to his long list of accomplishments. Lance has literally been hitting the road and advocating for Prop 15 a constitutional amendment to establish the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas. It passed last night and will authorize up to $3 billion in state general revenue bonds to fund cancer research, prevention, early detection and control programs. At a time when federal funding for cancer research is being reduced, states are having to do more to invest in cancer research – and Lance is helping Texas lead the way.

According to sources:

“We celebrate a milestone in Texas history today, and I’ve never been more proud to be a Texan.” Armstrong said. “Proposition 15 is the most important effort in which I have ever been involved, and I am deeply grateful to the people of this state for joining our campaign by voting to make Texas a global leader in cancer research and prevention.”

Check out the LIVESTRONG campaign as it continues to thrive through new programming (LIVESTRONG at School), products (Nike LIVESTRONG line), and continued advocacy for cancer awareness. Go Lance!!
