i agree with Derek, partially.
i think hybrid cars are a step in the right direction but not really enough. you can't just change your light bulbs hope in a hybrid and think you're doing your part.
industrialized farming and the globalization of our food system are probably the biggest threats to our environment, and yet they're rarely even mentioned. what does this say?
ALSO biofuels threaten food security and food sovereignty for billions of people in the so-called-developing world, and may even contribute far more to the environmental issues our globe is facing than regular fuels because of the methods by which the crops are farmed.
so, really, get on your bike. if you can't bike, get on a bus, if you gotta fly, the least you can do is buy carbon off sets. but don't by a hybrid car and think you're gods gift to the planet.

Love your site!!

Jay Leno did a good piece on Green Cars and it is definitely worth watching. He favors the natural gas vehicles (Civic GX) over gasoline-electric hybrids and I totall agree with him:

Derek and Michael have good points...I agree with them...I'd like also to emphasize that change starts within our selves.

She recently flew to Moscow in a private jet -- so good deduction tells me that the same probably happened with Berlin.

You believe hybrids do not reduce emissions? Or are are you arguing that hybrids are the answer? Certainly, they are a stepping stone and a very small piece of the puzzle.

"As always governments like to push the responsibility onto the individual rather than accepting it for themselves. Green advocates blindly accept this."

Who blindly accepts this? Should we simply wait then for the current administration to do something for us? Is that what you're advocating? I think people gave up on that option a long time.

The green movement will indeed have the greatest impact when government steps in to help moves things along. Where do you come from, however, suggesting that green advocates do not work for this? I'll refer to your to http://www.stepitup2007.org/ for more information.

While government is a big part of the puzzle, don't stop believing in the power of the individual to inspire change.
