Oxfam International, a confederation of 13 organizations that work together to find lasting solutions to poverty and injustice in less fortunate countries, has just released a television commercial in Britain asking people to donate something useful this season to someone less fortunate. The commercial features musician Will Young, actresses Dame Helen Mirren and Helena Bonham Carter and comedian Rob Brydon and urges people to go to oxfamunwrapped.com ( or oxfamamericaunwrapped.com if you’re in the states), where you can purchase a meaningful holiday gift for a stranger in need.

Some examples of gifts you could give are: a sheep for 45 dollars, a hygiene kit for 22 dollars, a pair of school uniforms for 20 dollars, or you could plant 50 trees for 30 dollars. So instead of just dropping off that old sweater at Salvation Army, why not make a financial investment in our friends across the world. Oh, and you can also drop that sweater off at Salvation Army too!
