Celebrities Will Now Sell Poison…Literally

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (or as I call it, corrupt-central) is proposing a law that will allow pesticide manufacturers to display “third-party endorsements” and charitable tie-ins on their labels. 

Ya’ll, this is a huge deal! Because a pesticide label is a legal document, any endorsement or advertisements is currently strictly prohibited, so as to not distract the consumer from the very important safety instructions on the label.  If this new law passes, pesticides and other regulated poisons would be allowed to prostitute endorsements from celebrities or prominent groups, and also include tie-ins with “approved” charities. 

Even the Association of American Pesticide Control Officers thinks this is a bad idea and has said that this kind of marketing could “mislead, be misinterpreted, or be falsely offering assurances of safety…” They also report that pesticides are the eighth most frequent cause of calls to poison centers, and that there are nearly 100,000 exposures a year, nearly half of which affect children younger than six.

The EPA’s plan is open for public comment until December 31st, and I highly, highly recommend all Ecorazzi readers to go their WEBSITE  and tell the EPA what you think about this very dangerous proposal. 

You guys, I work for a celebrity inspired website. I like celebrities. I’m all for celebrity endorsements. But this, this is going just a little too far!
