Their commercial says for everyone one dog that gets adopted there is another that does not. I wish it was a 1:1 ratio. How bout for every one pet that is adopted there are hundreds that do not ever get adopted. Approximately 3 million pets are killed each year in the US in shelters because owners do not get their pets spayed/neutered, people buy from puppy mills or backyard breeders, and owners abandon their pets. Adoption is part of the answer but honestly there are not enough homes for all the pets that are currently out there, not to mention all the ones that will be born or abandoned tomorrow. I would like to see more work focused on banning puppy mills, mandatory spay/neuter unless you are a registered breeder, outlawing chaining of dogs, regulations about only adopting out pets that are spayed/neutered from government facilities, government funded low cost or no cost spay/neuter, etc. It's not just come adopt Fluffy, isn't he cute.

hate to rain , but i was just wondering when you say short term, do you know what happens to the pups not adopted/sold at the store, are they going back to no-kill rescues or on to certain death?
though i think this is a fantastic way to connect folks with their future mates. right on! it would be a lot more warm and fuzzy if pedigree were truly accountable and not just posturing as a conscious company for the good publicity. peace. keep up the good work!
