Gore Presidential Run Still In The Cards?

While I can’t ever imagine things getting so convoluted that something like this would ever happen, the possibility still exists that Democrats might nominate Al Gore as the presidential candidate. That’s right. Not Obama. Not Clinton.

Before you start thinking that I’ve been inhaling too many Hannah Montana products, consider that this scenario came from the mouth of U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney (D-FL). Here’s how it might go down,

“’If it (the nomination process) goes into the convention, don’t be surprised if someone different is at the top of the ticket,’ Mahoney said. A compromise candidate could be someone such as former vice president Al Gore, Mahoney said last week during a meeting with this news organization’s editorial board. If either Clinton or Obama suggested to a deadlocked convention a ticket of Gore-Clinton or Gore-Obama, the Democratic Party would accept it, Mahoney said.”

Whoa — could you imagine something like this happening? Me either — but the fact that this Obama/Clinton division could end with neither of them leading the ticket is incredible. Ok, Gore fans, you’ve got reason to hope.

    Well here’s another fine mess we find ourselves embroiled in. The Democratic party is about to implode like a tired old casino from the Las Vegas strip. All the while, Hillary Clinton is allowed to tap dance roughshod on the precious remains of our party.

    And then there is Bill Clinton telegraphing every move she makes. The King of Deceit would now have of us believe that his ‘hit job’ comparison of Barack Obama and Jesse Jackson in South
    Carolina was a myth. That he was the victim of a mugging. How Ferraroesque.

    That was Monday, by Friday he was advancing the calculus that only John McCain and Hillary Clinton really love this country, prompting Ret. General Tony McPeak to make the much needed comparison of Bill Clinton to our most iconic Witch Hunter, Joe McCarthy.

    So where is Al Gore? Where in the world is the would be standard bearer of the Democratic party? Where is the rest of the spineless Democratic leadership when they are needed most? Barack Obama is the great hope for this nation and our party is teetering on the precipice of greatness for the first time in a generation.

    I guess Gore and others are too busy selfishly contemplating their own political currency. Too busy to do the right thing for us for a change. No one should be that shocked however. These are
    the same tactics of the do nothing House and Senate leadership that always turn a blind eye in their complicity with the Bush Crime Family.

    If Obama were trailing by such epic proportions his campaign would have been shut down in February. Instead we are helplessly subjected to Hillary and Bill Clinton in lockstep with the Right Wing Hate Machine.

    We need to hold Bill Clinton accountable to his own words in support of John Kerry’s White House bid. “Now one of Clinton’s laws of politics is this, if one candidate is trying to scare you and the other is trying to get you to think, if one candidate is appealing to your fears and the other is appealing to your hopes….you better vote for the person who wants you to think and hope!”

    Now we must demand that our most super, super delegate, start acting like one. This is exactly the purpose for which these ethereal delegates were created. Will someone remind Al Gore of his role in this process. Does he need to be hit over the head with his Oscar? Are his eyes covered with his Nobel Prize wreath? Or is he only listening to the hedge funds and capital markets?

    Of course Al Gore’s most recent political judgment is not much to invest in, just ask Joe LIEberman who spends most of his time keeping John McCain on message.

    I would vote for Al Gore! Neither H.Clinton or Obama have what it takes. He does.

    Al Gore would never accept a nomination against the voters’ choice. The man is doing great things for the planet now. Embroiling him in the Washignton toxic brew is not something someone who supports him would call for under the circumstances. Amazing though how easy people banty Mr. Gore’s name around when it comes to their own selfish desires. However, his pleas for them to help him regarding the climate crisis fall on deaf ears. Democrats have two candidates…pick one and live with it. It was surely OK to do that after Al Gore was kicked to the curb and no one stood up for him then. Now all of a sudden he is everyone’s second choice because they don’t like the choices. What a farce.
