Tommy Lee And Ludacris Hit Battleground Earth On Planet Green

March 31st 2008

tommy.jpgAt first I read the above as “Battlefield Earth” and thought we were going to be treated to another round of John Travolta dressed as a Klingon-type thing.

Thankfully, Battleground Earth is the name of yet another new series set to debut on Discovery’s Planet Green network. The show is 10-episode reality series that will pit various celebrities against each other in green-themed competitions. From the article,

“Battleground will feature Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and Tommy Lee criss-crossing the country competing in various challenges designed to highlight green issues. The series will culminate with the two artists converging in Los Angeles to co-headline a concert at the Greek Theater with proceeds benefiting Griffith Park.”

Interesting. Planet Green’s Eileen O’Neill said Battleground is designed to emphasize entertainment over eco-preaching; something that Discovery is going to have to work hard to find a balance to should they risk turning off viewers. Cameras are expected to start rolling on the series in two to three weeks. Dig it?

  1. I thought these guys were trying to save the world but judging from the fact that I saw Tommy Lee and a host of TV crew at the airport the other day getting on some jumbo jet to go someplace for the show I have decided that this whole show must be Ludacris. Truly it is a shame when celebrities jump on the eco-bandwagon just to do another BS show to promote themselves. I’m all for getting the word out but really?!!

  2. If anyone got any pictures from April 26th, I would love to get copies.

    Thanks.

  3. Today i was at a Santa Fe Renaissance Fair and Ludacris and Tommy Lee and the whole tv crew showed up to shoot the movie. i was a bit suprised. It was upsetting that they would go out in public to do something like that then not even talk to their fans. I think this is just something to boost their career. SHAME ON YOU GUYS! hahah oh and on the renaissance fair episode look for me! I am wearing white shirt and ripped jeans!!! i walked in front of camera at a few points!!!!

  4. Who are the people that were with them?

  5. I was at the Rennaissance Faire in Irwindale CA this past weekend. Tommy Lee and Ludicrous were there making paper in an area that showed how things were done back then. One of the ONLY free activities and it was closed off to faire patrons for several hours!! Not fair to customers! And no, they didn’t talk to fans… or even wave!

  6. And the Ren Faire Carnies thought they were freakin’ body guards! I got into an altercation with one of them. Told them not to F*&%ING touch me. They actually shoved us out of the way like we were supposed to know what was going on. I used to work at that place when I was younger. Anyone over the age of 20 that works there is likely a low life dirt bag…

But, Tommy Lee was pretty friendly, he was taking pictures with people and stuff. He just didn’t want to get mauled I’m sure.

  7. Last Friday night, I caught the teaser for this as I awaited the beginning of Hellboy II. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I respect both of these musicians and am a zealous environmentalist. So, what’s not to love?

  8. Battleground Earth is an environmental joke. I have seen the first few episodes and the cast is constantly flying on private planes from day to day to compete in their so called ‘eco’ challenges.

It seems the show is simply a promotion tool for the cast members involved. If they really cared about the environment, the producers of the program wouldn’t be polluting the planet for the filming sake.

    This show is total BS.
