scientist guy is correct. I am a distributor for some of the major water filtration comapanies and I have done extensive research on water filters.

Although pur is Nsf certified to reduce "some" contaminants, they fall short in terms of long term performance. These
"throw away" type faucet mount filters do not last long, and will need to be replaced at least once a year. Not to mention having to change the cartridges about once a month for a family of 4. You are better off to spend your money on a more expensive system (like Multi-Pure). Just remember the old saying "you get what you pay for" . In Terms of water filters, this means alot. Although you will spend more up front, you will save in the long term. MP systems come with a lifetime warranty, and replacement cartridges only need changing once per year. They are nsf certified to reduce more contaminants than any other water filter on the market, And they are the ONLY filter nsf certified for Arsenic removal.

Aquasana also carries a "good" nsf water filter, which is a bit cheaper, but does not remove as many contaminants, and does not come with a lifetime warranty.

Make sure to check for the nsf seal when purchasing any water filter. Nsf certification assures the buyer, that the product can meet its claims.

PUR is not even a good filter. If you really learn about what is out there and the requirements for good filtration you will find PUR does not filter the worst contaiminants. Yes it will make water taste better, but it doesn't filter out chloramines which is the new residual disinfection method cities use. It also doesn't do VOC's(volatile organic compunds) and nitrates. All of which is in everyones water supply. Reverse Osmosis is best. Shower filters are important too.

wow cindy lover 69 (quite a name there, i can only imagine....) i didn't know that because someone wore fur coats that this shows they're more interested "in people than animals" So does this mean you love all people who kill animals for fur coats (and model them after they said they won't) Please elaborate. That is if you read this site again. Chances are you're NOT a regular.

This is great. I switched to only FIJI artesian water when I learned about the amount of poisonous floride found in our drinking water. What's you next endorsement Cindy? Please endorse Ron Paul 2008, for the future of yours and our children.

I already do several of these things out of necessity to satisfy my budget. Reuse plastic bottles -- Wow, really original idea!! Wear used clothing -- Amazing!! Only the rich would think these were "new" ideas. These super-rich celebrities are the biggest wasters on the planet, yet they think they have to tell the rest of us how to live. Clean up your own back yard, Hollywood!!

Yes, I know, she's done fur campaigns, which I totally disagree with. However her tips on saving water and helping the environment are true and helpful. She is still an influential celebrity and has the means to shift in a positive direction. Why not support that? I write an eco-blog at http://www.planetpinkngreen.com. I am immersed in the world of eco-support and seek to highlight those individuals, places, things and governments that are making positive global changes. Cindy Crawford's shift in thinking only reflects a growing demographic of people out there who are shifting as well. I support that. ---Cheryl Janis from http://www.planetpinkngreen.com
