No, you’re not going to have to part with your opposable digits. Nor are you expected to hitchhike across the country. Instead, former NFL star Tiki Barber and StumbleUpon want to turn your clicks into trees — lots of ‘em — by thumbing up websites you find during Earth Day.
Wait a minute, you’ve never heard of StumbleUpon? My friend, you are missing out on a layer of the Internet that truly adds to the experience of playing with the World Wide Web. Basically, StumbleUpon helps you discover websites based on your interests, learns what you like, and brings you more – its like your personal concierge for the web. When you find a site you like (oh say, like Ecorazzi), you give it a thumbs up up on the toolbar. When you find one you dislike (like, Exxon or Kentucky Fried Chicken) you give it a fat thumbs down.
You can get a clearer picture of what I’m talking about here by visiting the SU site. Turning thumbs into trees is a brilliant idea — and for someone like myself thatthrows around a bunch of thumbs everyday, knowing they’re helping out the planet is even better.
The campaign is set to go live April 22nd.
