Sure, Sundance is by far the greenest film festival out there, but is Cannes the most charitable?
A bevy of celebrities used their time at the Cannes Film Festival to help raise money for The Foundation For Aids Research by auctioning off a couple of odds and ends. Some of largest donations came from stars like George Clooney — who auctioned off a $300,000 dollar smooch – and Madonna who raised almost half a million dollars with her black alligator-skin diamond bag. Ew, gross!!
Sharon Stone (who we’ve been quite rough on in the past) donated $100,000 of her own money and topped it off by auctioning her vintage Porsche 911 Targa for a whopping $810,000!
By the end of the evening those twinkle town favorites raised $10 million smackers for life-saving AIDS research programs. So yes, maybe Sharon Stone loves fur and maybe Madonna isn’t as green as we’d like her to be, but life isn’t black and white kids, and good deeds are good deeds! So a humble bow and big thanks to those precious celebrities who helped raised a little bit of dough for those in need!

George Clooney’s smooch auction was Cannes 2007, not this year.
George Clooney was not in Cannes this year. The auction where he was took place last year.
Ya’ll reminded me that I totally forgot to credit my source on this one. Are you sure Clooney wasn’t there? They might have gotten it wrong, but check it out.
