Boycott buying all their products and drop their PR and customer service departments a note saying you'll never buy any of their products until this is changed. The shelters are full of ADULT dogs that had homes. The problem is with people dumping dogs that they no longer want, not that there are too many puppies. For the record, I do spay/neuter my dogs, but after they have grown up. Performance dogs especially can be affected if proper growth and form has not been achieved. If we have an overpopulation problem, why were 300,000 homeless dogs brought into this country? Why aren't we placing our own first? There are shelters that are importing dogs from other shelters because they don't have enough to meet demand. This is a better solution than euthanizing. There are too many shelters that are only into the business of euthanizing dogs, and are not looking into better alternatives. Check out Nathan Winograd. I have to disagree. One of the main reasons we spay/neuter pets is to keep populations under control. Otherwise, there would be many more lives not just faced with cancer, but with starvation, homelessness, and disease. I'm not saying that the act of spaying and neutering an animal should not be researched, but in my experience it has never hurt the more than 20+ pets I've had the honor of calling family members over my lifetime. All lived healthy, long lives. I'd rather have that than to fear the act of spaying/neutering, only to have my dog and cats reproduce and their offspring potentially suffer. Meh. I have to disagree.
